August - Restoration
Somehow, we're already in August.
At the start of the year, many of us held our planners with hopeful hands. We wrote down goals, chose a word for the year, promised ourselves that this would be the year we finally became more disciplined, healthier, calmer, more faithful, more present.
Then life happened.
Plans shifted. Unexpected opportunities appeared. Heartbreak found some of us. Healing found others. Some dreams quietly grew beneath the surface while others dissolved completely. We've laughed, grieved, celebrated, waited, questioned and endured more than we could have predicted back in January.
Before we rush into the final months of the year trying to "catch up," what if we simply paused?
August is our reminder to sit in a season of waiting. It’s the transition month between seasons. It no longer feels like summer but it’s not quite fall/autumn. It’s simply: August.
Take a moment to pause, without criticism or guilt.
Just acknowledgement.
Look at where you were, how you’ve changed, how you’ve survived and the quiet ways that you’ve grown.
Restoration begins not by doing more, but by remembering. You won’t know where you stand unless you briefly glance back to see what you’ve passed.
So before you make that to-do list to finish out the year, give yourself permission to look back with grace.
The first half of this year mattered.
And so do you.
Challenge:
Take 30 minutes this week for a screen detox. Put your phone away and reflect on the past six months with grace. Celebrate the wins, acknowledge the hard moments, and recognize how far you've come.
Don't compare your six months to someone else's highlight reel. Social media often showcases the destination, not the journey. Your story is unfolding in its own time, and restoration begins when you stop looking around and start looking within.
Guided Reflection:
What does my soul need to feel fully restored?
Where is God calling me to rest instead of rush?
How can I rebuild what has been burnt out?
