June - Active

Embrace the movement of your body this month

The sun is shining. School is out of session. Summer is officially upon us. Welcome to June!

This month, we're embracing a simple but often overlooked gift: movement.

When many of us hear the word active, we immediately think of workouts, gym memberships, step counts, and fitness goals. While those things certainly have their place, movement was never meant to be confined to a treadmill or measured solely by calories burned.

God designed our bodies to move.

Gardening, dancing in the kitchen, chasing your kids around the yard, swimming in the lake, washing the car. Movement isn't just exercise—it's participation in life.

In a culture that often swings between overworking our bodies and neglecting them entirely, June invites us to pursue a healthier perspective. Our bodies are not projects to perfect; they are gifts to steward. Every stretch, step, lift, and breath is an opportunity to care for what God has entrusted to us.

This month is all about embracing the love of movement, not because we have to but because we want to. Do what brings you the most joy, that makes you forget about the calorie counter or the mpg tracker. Go outside. Try something new.

Observe how your mood changes once you’ve completed the movement. How do you feel after a walk around the block? Does your soul feel lighter after spending an evening in movement rather than scrolling?

The goal isn't perfection.

The goal is participation.

Let's embrace an active life—not because we have to, but because we get to.

Challenge:

Commit 30 minutes each day to movement. Don’t get stuck on textbook exercises. Your movement might look like:

  • Garden

  • Walk

  • Swim

  • play with your kids

  • pillow fight

  • Dance

  • Wash your car

The goal is not perfection.

The goal is to move.

Guided Reflection:

  • How can I honor my body through movement each day?

  • What rhythms of movement make me feel most alive?

  • How can I see movement as worship rather than work?
