Balance: Making Room for What Matters
Welcome to the BER months!!
These final months of the year are the “cozy months” full of fun themes, treats and holidays. Luckily, we get an intro month, which gives us the perfect opportunity to find our balance with a mind-body reset.
The final months of the year have a way of filling our calendars quickly. Before they do, September gives us a chance to pause and ask: What do I want to make room for in this season?
Let’s take the pressure off of your shoulders. Balance doesn’t always look like a perfectly divided schedule. Sometimes balance means knowing when to lean in and when to let go. It means being intune with your body, honoring your limits and making time for the things that recharge you.
In a season that can easily become centered around doing, accomplishing and showing up for everyone else, balance may begin with simply making space to be still. What would it look like to center your days around God before the calendar begins to fill?
Take a moment to notice yourself. Look at your daily activities and tasks. What gives you energy? Alternatively, what drains your energy? What do you need more of right now? This is a greatest time to play around with your routines and schedules. Simply notice your movement, rest, solitude, connection, productivity, spiritual time.
Challenge: The 7 Day Balance Reset
For seven days, ask yourself:
Check in: How is my energy today?
Notice: What do I need—movement, rest, connection, solitude, productivity, or stillness?
Adjust: What is one small thing I can change today to better support what I need?
Center: Where can I make intentional space for God?
We can become so focused on preparing for the season that we forget to prepare our hearts for it. Make space for God before the calendar fills up. It’s not about all of the things you can accomplish in one day or all of the parties you can squeeze in, but about the memories made and the joy felt in each room.
Guided Reflection:
What boundaries bring peace instead of pressure?
Where am I out of balance, and what is one small way I can shift?
How can I center my day around God?
What do I want to make room for in this season?
